Want to cook simple, tasty and healthy homemade meals? We’re offering 9 classes over the course of the year. Everyone is welcome!

Croydon SDA Health & Lifestyle Team are really excited to be offering another year of plant based cooking classes for the local community. There will be 9 sessions throughout the course of the year, which means 9 opportunities, so come along and join us!

Starting from 19 March 2020, each month we will host a 2-hour cooking class where you’ll be guided through all the necessary steps to help you produce a range of simple, tasty and nutritious dishes. Our classes are designed for a mixture of abilities, whether you’re beginner or more experienced. You’ll learn about the health benefits of the ingredients used and how they can support the improvement or prevention of common lifestyle diseases. We’ll also share lots of useful tips and information on plant based cooking, as well as a delicious meal to take home and share with your family and friends.

How to register:

To attend please register on Eventbrite. The fee is  £5 per class.



Do I have to be a member of your church to join your cooking class?

No prior church membership is needed. Our classes are open to everyone in the community. We have participants from a diverse range of backgrounds.

What should I bring?

The class fee includes the use of all equipment, disposable aprons, and ingredients. Please bring your own containers to take your food home with you. Those with long hair should bring something to tie it back.

Do we take food home?

We encourage participants to take home their creations, so please bring a takeaway container with you. On every course you will receive a recipe file of all the dishes covered.

Will I be out of my depth as a beginner?

The classes are designed for a mixture of abilities so beginners are very welcome. They are intended as a relaxed learning experience. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss in more detail what our classes cover and whether they would be suitable for someone with your experience.

How much cooking will I do?

The day is a mix of hands on cooking and demonstration. You will see demonstrations of important skills in different styles of cooking, and plenty of hands on. We use individual work stations and also prepare and cook together either as a large group, or in smaller groups.

Do you cater for other dietary requirements?

We always check dietary requirements so we can ensure everyone is included and able to enjoy the food on the day. Please complete our Pre-arrival form to indicate your dietary requirements. Alternatives may be available where dishes are unsuitable. Whilst most requirements are easily accommodated we will always advise if we feel a specific dish would not be suitable.

How many attend/ who comes to the classes?

We take a maximum of 25 people for each 2-hour class. You can expect a relaxed learning experience as we cook and eat together. The classes attract people of all ages and from all walks of life, a mixture of men and women, vegans, vegetarians and non veggies, confident cooks and those less experienced and those just stuck in a rut. Many come on their own, some in pairs or small groups of family and friends. Every day is different. Most classes are suitable for students over the age of 13, when accompanied by a paying adult. Students must be at least 16 to attend a class unaccompanied.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from a class?

Public transport

The church is located just one hundred yards from Selhurst Train Station which is in travel card zone 4. The church is served by two main bus routes, 75 (Croydon to Lewisham) and 157 (Morden to Crystal Palace). The nearest bus stops are just 2 minutes walk away from the church.


The church has ample free parking in the surrounding roads. Please note that parking is not permitted on the yellow lines outside the church.

Can I change/cancel my booking?

Cancellations or amendments to bookings may be made up to 14 days prior to the date of the class. If you find you are unable to attend a class less than 14 days before the date of the class, you are welcome to send someone else in your place. We regret that the course fees will only be refunded, or booking transferred, if we are able to fill your place.
