The Real Constant

Many of us are creatures of habit. I like to wake up before everyone in my household and enjoy the peace and quiet. I pray and just lie still and listen.  One of the many reasons for this is because as soon as I get out of bed, my boys seem to sense that I am awake and there goes the quiet.

Children are a blessing. There is no doubt about it and I say that after having two very active boys. As every parent knows, after having children nothing is the same. My morning routine for one has drastically changed. Before children (BC) I could be up and out of the house in 45 minutes with devotion and breakfast included. After children (AC) it can take well over 2 hours to leave the house.

As a creature of habit, I have routines in place to help me survive. Since being in lockdown the routines are different, but we still have a routine. In the Bible, we are told that Daniel routinely prayed 3 times a day (Daniel 6:10). We are also told that Paul routinely went into the synagogue in Thessalonica and reasoned from the scriptures Acts (17:2).

Routine can help you have some stability when everything else is changing.

Does your routine include God? The only real constant is God.

Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. So, while everything around is changing and out of our control. Let us trust in the unchanging One to keep His promises.
