SOS

By Jenniffer Mann

As the nation finds itself in the grip of the Coronavirus and we are confined to our homes, this has been a time of joyful rediscovery for some, as they immerse themselves in family, discarded hobbies and rest!

For others however, many people find themselves sending out signals of distress!

Some are crying out to be rescued from loneliness, others from financial ruin. Others yet from an abusive partner or parent. Maybe you are the single parent, struggling to work from home daily, in a confined space with small children demanding constant attention.

In what may seem like your darkest hour, where do you go? Who do you turn to?

My 16 year old niece, who is not a Christian, purchased herself a bible last week. During one of our daily catch ups, she said “Aunty, I get why you read the bible, it’s so comforting” that same night she messaged me this:

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,” found in the Old Testament book of Psalms Chapter 46 and verse 1.

If you are asking who you can turn to, just know that your tears and cry for help are not in vain.

God knows exactly what you are going through. He knows you at a level that no one else in the world can know or understand.

Jesus the son of God, experienced great depths of pain just like you when He bore our sins on the cross of Calvary but the good news is, He hears your SOS and is ready to come to your rescue.

In the book of Jeremiah 29 and verse 11, God says: “For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

Pray this simple prayer today and allow Jesus to be the answer you are looking for.

“Father God, I am struggling to do life right now. I feel no one understands my pain but I believe you are the answer. I give my life to you and ask that you reveal the plan you have for my life, so I can live more abundantly. Please hear my simple prayer, in the precious name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen”

Our song for the week comes from Croydon SDA Gospel choir and is entitled “No Need”
