Please allow me to give you a glimpse of what freedom in Christ looks like to me.

Every choice we make comes with responsibility; every action has a consequence. When I read the first part of Romans 6:23 in my Bible, “For the wages of sin is death,” I realised that the natural consequence of my sins is death – I REALLY SHOULD DIE! If the verse ended there I would remain imprisoned. The treasure lies in the rest of that same verse,” but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Jesus took my place when He died on the cross.

Accepting Jesus has brought me freedom from the penalty of all my sins.

This same freedom is available to you. Before I accepted Jesus, all my choices were influenced by sin. Even choices that seemed good to onlookers, were made in order to glorify myself, and were in reality sinful. Jesus is helping me to make good choices for the right reasons. As we accept Jesus and grow closer to Him day by day, He informs our choices.

Jesus offers us freedom from the power of sin. This same freedom is available to you.

Everyone at some point in their lives has experienced pain. This includes both physical and emotional pain. We have all encountered directly or indirectly:

• Failure
• Bereavement
• Depression
• Rejection
• Failed relationships
• Abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)
• Financial hardship

These are all the result of sin but in God’s presence neither sin nor evil can exist. He has prepared a place for us, where there will be no pain. God offers freedom from our past pain.

In Isaiah 43:18-19, God says, “But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

God knows our past and present struggles. He will clear a path through our rough patches. Praise God, our freedom is guaranteed!
