Confused Faith

Pastor Jesse Samuel

Have you ever been in a season in your life when everybody around you in life seems to be blessed but you?

I’m talking about other people’s bills being paid. Friends getting into the university they desire. Siblings finding their purpose in life, and other’s marriage’s prospering.

If you are feeling like this, you are not alone.

John the Baptist also felt this way after devoting his life fully to God, yet found himself locked in Herod’s prison. His disciples would share stories of the miracles Jesus was performing for others, while leaving him in prison. As a result, he asked the question, “Jesus, are you the one, or do we look for another?”

All of us have reached this place at some point in our lives. A place where we feel forgotten, and abandoned by God. After devoting time to Him in prayer, and serving others, we are left captive to our circumstances.

In response to a discouraged John, Jesus performed many miracles where the blind received their sight, the lame walked, and the deaf had their hearing restored. The dead were raised and the poor had the gospel preached to them. This was the fulfilment of a prophecy in Isaiah 35:5–6 that John would have been familiar with. In other words, John’s faith would have changed from confusion to confidence.

If you like John, are at a crossroads where you feel confused…

Remind yourself of the promises of God and how He has blessed you in the past and watch your faith move from confusion to confidence in Him.
