Find It Grow It Use It

By Pastor Royston

Every snowflake that falls to the ground has a different pattern of ice crystals.  No two snowflakes are identical. Likewise, no two people are identical. You are unique.  What the Psalmist, David said of himself, is also true of you, I will praise you Lord; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)

God has created everyone with important talents and gifts. They can be used to heal or to hurt, to produce pleasure or pain, to care or to cut, to bless or to bruise.  God is very clear on the purpose of these talents and gifts.

1 Peter 4:10 (Living Bible) teaches, “God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.” Talents are like keys; they represent ownership and power; the ability to unlock something great.

Singing sensation Susan Boyle is an inspiration to those who feel ‘talent-less’ and ‘gift-less’. Remember her? At the age of 48 she rose to fame, by competing in the Britain’s Got Talent contest on April 11, 2009. The song that left us awe-struck was “I Dreamed A Dream” from the musical, Les Misérables. Her song became the most watched YouTube clip for 2009. In only 9 days it had been watched over 100 million times. Although Susan Boyle was born with a learning disability, God gave her a gift which she uses to bless others. The Bible says, “A person’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” (Proverbs 18:16 KJV)

So what makes you tick? What are you passionate about? What do you enjoy doing? How can you develop and use it to benefit others? Just like snowflakes falling in winter, think about what makes you unique. Ask God for opportunities to use your talents and gifts.

Dear God, Sometimes I feel so ordinary, but you don’t create ordinary people. Please help me to identify my gifts. Show me how to use them to bless others. In Jesus name. Amen
