Who’s Building Your House?

By Pastor Jesse Samuel

In today’s society, we are continually encouraged to grind for success. Everywhere you go, we are encouraged to become the next best thing. Understandably, we all want to experience success and a sense of fulfilment.

The wisest man ever to live in Solomon coined these words in Psalm 127:1: “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”

This text simply implies that unless the Lord is our foundation, then all of our success is done in vain and will amount to nothing.

Society teaches us to build foundations on materialistic things; on cars, houses, clothes and much more. While these things aren’t inherently bad, these things aren’t a strong enough foundation to keep you in times in your difficult moments. After all, a relationship can turn sour, your intellect may fail you. Your car can break down on you, and clothes will be in season today but out of season tomorrow!

Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” That’s why we can’t build our foundation on temporary things and expect lasting results.

Today, I challenge you to let the Lord be your foundation in life. Let Him lead and direct you, and watch God change your life.
