New year, new me!
This is a statement that many people make at the beginning of each calendar year. We see the new year as an opportunity to reinvent ourselves and improve in specific areas of our lives. Some of the new year’s resolutions we make are to go to the gym more consistently. To eat more healthily, get a new job or to develop a new skill. Regardless of what our goal and desire is, many of us seek to improve.
The reality of the situation for most of us is that we lack the consistency and desire to continue toward the goal that we set at the beginning of each year.
However, 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
This is encouraging as the text offers us the opportunity to become a new person, with new habits, and a new passion to pursue all that God has placed on your heart. Equally, we are encouraged that our past is behind us. Our mistakes, flaws, and areas where we have fallen short no longer have the ability to hold us back. All when submitted to God can be a new creation.
This year, let one of your goals be to be in Christ so that he can make you into a new creation!
